Shock and vibration isolation for commercial computing equipment in a naval combat enviroment

Project Gallery

The Electronic Module Enclosure for the Zumwalt DDG-1000 was designed to bring the computing power of a commercial datacenter into the heart of a naval warship. Kat designed cabinets of commercial computing equipment to meet data processing requirements, and then used a variety of bespoke mounting strategies, as well as the shock and vibration mitigation of the EME itself, to ensure that the commercial hardware would survive the naval combat environment. The first EME was delivered to the US Navy in May 2010.
